Founder and CEO
Ty Boyd Executive Learning Systems and The Excellence In Speaking Institute
ty@tyboyd.com

Ty Boyd, now in his 28th year as CEO of The Excellence in Speaking Institute, is one of the most respected leaders in the communications field.

In 2005, the National Speakers Association (NSA) honored Ty Boyd with its Master of Influence Award at the organization’s annual conference.  The award is presented to one who has made a positive global impact through the spoken word, significantly influencing generations of speakers, and whose distinguished career has brought honor and recognition to the speaking profession. Others who have won it include Ken Blanchard, Lou Holtz, Zig Ziglar, Nido Qubein and Art Linkletter.

The award recognized Ty for the influence of his Excellence in Speaking Institute and his role as a private coach.  He has taught executives from more than 40 countries how to improve their speaking and presentation skills.  His clients include numerous Fortune 500 companies.

Ty has delivered keynotes and conducted seminars on five continents to more than a million people. He is a member of Speakers Roundtable, a by-invitation-only group of the top 20 professional speakers in the nation.  He has been inducted into the NSA Speakers Hall of Fame and the North Carolina Broadcasting Hall of Fame. Ty is one of the few speakers worldwide to receive the speaking industry's three highest honors, including the Oscar of the National Speakers Association -- The Cavett Award.

Ty Boyd began his business life as a broadcaster. During high school and at the University of North Carolina, he was a DJ. After two years in the Navy, he returned to radio/TV work, becoming an in-demand talent both on and off the air. He made it his responsibility to touch every one of his customers (viewers and listeners) in person. To do this, he filled 150 speaking engagements each year. It was in touching his customers in this manner that Ty realized how powerful these skills could be for others. Hence, a second and third career developed. Boyd emerged as broadcaster, professional speaker, and a teacher/coach of executive communications.

Ty is married to TBELS President Pat Boyd.  They have six children.

Challenging but supportive. Personable. Engaging. That’s how Excellence in Speaking Institute participants describe Molly Boyd Hunt. Molly has been an Excellence in Speaking Institute (ESI) coach for six years. She works with individuals throughout the country to boost their speaking and presentation skills, from the boardroom to the arena.

Even seasoned leaders can get uneasy at the thought of speaking in front of a crowd. Molly enjoys seeing the changes they experience at the three-day ESI. “On the first day, some people don’t want to be here because they’re intimidated. By the last day, they don’t want to leave.”

Molly holds a B.S. in Psychology from Queens University of Charlotte. She is an active volunteer with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and The Humane Society. Along with fellow faculty member Anne Boyd, Molly is a marathon runner who recently competed in The Chicago Marathon.

Dave Reinhardt brings a theatrical flair to his work with the Excellence in Speaking Institute (ESI).  An ESI coach since 1999, Dave specializes in teaching executives how to incorporate the tools of an actor to make their presentations more energetic, persuasive, and compelling.  Dave has experience with the most challenging of audiences: he has acted and taught at Children’s Theatre of Charlotte and played a 15th century peasant at the Carolina Renaissance Festival.

In every setting, Dave loves teaching others how to tell stories that take listeners on a journey of imagination. Says ESI Dean of Faculty Anne Boyd, “David is a rare professional. His skill as a storyteller, and as a very accomplished actor, gives us added breadth. His students love him. So do we!” Dave holds a B.A. in English with a Theatre minor, from Ohio Wesleyan University.
